Finance Officer

Function

The Finance Officer is responsible for maintaining accurate and complete records in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and IntraHealth Namibia Office Accounting and Financial Policies and Procedures. S/He will assist the Accounts Manager in maintaining office management and handling petty cash. She/he also verifies financial documents for proper approval and documentation

Responsibilities

Financial Accounting

• Ensure that financial records are maintained up to date, accurate and complete.
• Reviewing of the invoices for payment, recording payments and preparing cash advance request.
• Organizes and maintains a central filing system for all financial and administrative documents.
• Process payment of monthly staff salaries.
• Ensure all source documents are received and filed appropriately, payment advices are prepared, all transactions are setup for payment and processed in the financial system.
• Prepare monthly accounts payable reconciliations.

Petty cash management

• Shall be responsible for maintaining petty cash book for head office.
• Review and reconciliation of all regional petty cash accounts.

Audit

• Assisting with the preparation annual financial audits and ensuring audit recommendations and findings are addressed.

Warehouse Management

• Oversee the supervision of IHN warehouses.

Fleet Management

• Ensure all newly bought/donated vehicles are on blue fuel and on tracking systems.
• Ensure that monthly tracking reports are prepared.

Job requirements

Minimum Educational Requirements:

• Bachelors’ degree in accounting or equivalent combination of education and work experience

Minimum Experience Requirements:

• 3 years of job-related experience

Preferred Experience (Added Advantage):

• Preferred: NGO experience in a donor-funded environment is desired.
